Est-ce bien raisonnable que des sociétés démocratiques considèrent leurs citoyens comme des présumés coupables, comme des terroristes potentiels ? Il semble y en avoir aussi plus de 50 millions en France, pays qui s'octroit des lois sur mesure (DADVSI, HADOPI, LOPPSI 1 et 2…) comme d'aileurs en Chine, en Birmanie, en Iran, au Royaume-Unis, en Arabie Saoudite... mince, en fait cette planète est remplie de terroristes, c'est dingue ça o_O ( moins )

ImageFilms by Youth Inside (FYI) is an ongoing program that provides educational and creative options to incarcerated youth. Program participants learn the basics of screenwriting and filmmaking from film industry professionals and create short films expressive of their own life experiences. The filmmaking process helps participants gain perspective on their lives and their actions, while imparting valuable work and life skills. Just as important, the films themselves provide a variety of audiences insight into the cultural and societal currents that may give rise to youth violence. ( moins )

L'idée a été lancée par l'acteur/chanteur Harry Belafonte. Son manager Ken Kragen a suggéré une approche multi-artistes inspirée du succès du titre Do They Know It's Christmas? du groupe britannique Band Aid formé par Bob Geldof et Midge Ure en 1984. Les artistes participant au projet se sont réunis au A&M Recording Studios à Hollywood, Californie, le 28 janvier 1985. Kragen avait fait son casting la nuit des American Music Award afin d'obtenir le plus d'artistes. Quincy Jones, dans son invitation, leur écrit « Check your egos at the door » (« Laissez vos égos à la porte du studio »). En tout plus de 45 musiciens dont Bob Geldof, et 21 chanteurs dont Lionel Richie, Michael Jackson, Tina Turner, Bob Dylan et Bruce Springsteen se sont joints au projet. ( moins )

The recipients of the inaugural 2008 American Red Cross Humanitarian Prize are: • Mr. Younis Al Khatib, President, Palestine Red Crescent Society •Dr. Noam Yifrach, Chairman of the Executive Committee, Magen David Adom in Israel Messrs. Al Khatib and Yifrach are being honored for the historic work they have personally accomplished in establishing a formal, ongoing collaboration which has resulted in a more thoroughly integrated humanitarian response to the needs of Palestinians and Israelis. In addition to establishing ongoing collaboration, due to the remarkable efforts of these individuals, the Palestine Red Crescent Society and Magen David Adom were officially admitted to the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement in 2006. The American Red Cross is proud to honor their individual achievements forged through close, personal collaboration over a decades-old and often violence-torn divide between the Israeli and Palestinian peoples.
