En 1988, il se présente, sans succès, à l'investiture démocrate. Il a soutenu un temps la décision du président George W. Bush d'envahir l'Irak en 2003 avant de devenir un des opposants les plus féroces à la gestion de l'après-guerre. Supercopter Supercopter (Airwolf) est une série télévisée américaine en 80 épisodes de 50 minutes créée par Donald P. Bellisario et diffusée entre le 22 janvier 1984 et le 7 juillet 1987 sur le réseau CBS. En France, la série a été diffusée à partir du 21 avril 1986 sur La Cinq. Synopsis Le personnage principal de la série est Stringfellow Hawke (joué par Jan-Michael Vincent), un solitaire qui vit dans une cabane au milieu des montagnes, avec pour seule compagnie son chien Ted. Il possède une collection de tableaux inestimables ainsi qu'un violoncelle Stradivarius. Son seul ami est Dominic Santini (joué par Ernest Borgnine). Santini possède une compagnie d'hélicoptères, Santini Air, spécialisée dans les cascades de films hollywoodiens. Hawke était un pilote d'essai de Supercopter, un prototype unique d'hélicoptère militaire, capable d'atteindre des vitesses supersoniques. Construit par la Firm (ou l'Agence), sociéte proche de la CIA, il est volé par son créateur, Dr. Charles Henry Moffet, qui veut le vendre à la Libye. Hawke est alors appelé par un homme appelé Archangel, qui dirige la firm pour retrouver Supercopter. Hawke, aidé de Santini récupère l'appareil, mais refuse de le rendre. Ils cachent l'hélicoptère dans un volcan éteint de la Monument Valley. Ils accomplissent des missions ponctuelles pour la CIA, en échange la CIA doit l'aider à retrouver son frère disparu durant la guerre du Viêt Nam. Dans la deuxième saison, Caitlin O'Shannessy (jouée par Jean Bruce Scott) fait son apparition. Elle travaille pour Santini Air et sert de pilote de remplacement pour Supercopter. Aux bout de plusieurs années (au début de la saison 4), il finit par retrouver son frère Saint John, qui prend sa place aux commandes de Supercopter puisque Springfellow meurt avec Dominic dans un attentat. À noter qu'Hawke, en version originale prénommé « Stringfellow », se change en français au gré des épisodes en « Springfellow ».
